E-Procurement has been introduced on Eastern Railway. All vendors are requested to obtain Digital Signature Certificate from any of the Certifying Authorities approved by the Govt. of India.

New Important Notice for e-Procurement

Eastern Railway was formed on 14th April, 1952 by integration of the East Indian Railway consisting of Sealdah, Howrah, Asansol and Danapur Divisions and the entire Bengal - Nagpur Railway.

Stores Department as a separate department made its beginning in the year 1857 and was headed by General Stores Keeper (GSK). First GSK was Mr. T. F. Campbell. There after, the designation was changed to Principal Store Keeper (1863-1866), then to Chief Store Keeper (1866 – 1886) and finally to Controller of Stores. The department is presently headed by COS, Sri V. P. Pathak.

At present, the department is having 72 officers, 5,000 staff and making purchases worth Rs. 500 Crores and selling scrap worth Rs. 200 Crores every year. Approximately, 15,000 items are stocked at various depots, viz., Liluah, Howrah, Halishar, Kanchrapara, Jamalpur and Burdwan.

The oldest Railway Printing press established in the year 1855 catering to the needs of Tickets, forms and stationery is also a part of Stores Department.
